2017.01.2005:50:00UTC+00Uber to pay FTC $20 million over driver earnings claims

Ride-hailing company Uber Technologies Inc. has agreed to pay the Federal Trade Commission $20 million to settle charges that it misled people into driving for its company with how much they could expect and how much they would have to pay to finance a car, documents filed with a U.S. federal court showed.

The company is now prohibited from making misleading statements about the income of the drivers.

The FTC will allocate the $20 million payment to the affected drivers.

In a statement, a spokesman from Uber said the company is pleased to have reached a deal with the commission.
