Malaysia's unemployment rate declined slightly in February, figures from the Department of Statistics Malaysia showed Friday.

The unemployment rate decreased slightly to 3.2 percent in February from 3.3 percent in January. A year ago, the jobless rate was 3 percent.

This decline was due to the reduction of the number of unemployed by 11,300 monthly to 446,400 persons in February, the agency said. The jobless total was 398,500 in the same month last year.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, meanwhile, climbed to 3.2 percent from 3.1 percent a month ago. In the same month last year, the figure was 2.8 percent.

The labour force participation rate also decreased to 67.4 percent in February from 67.8 percent in January.
