2017.09.1503:12:00UTC+00Norway Trade Surplus Grows In August

Norway's foreign trade surplus increased notably in August from a year ago, driven by sharp rise in exports, preliminary figures from Statistics Norway showed Friday.

The trade surplus rose to NOK 12.4 billion in August from NOK 7.1 billion in the corresponding month last year. However, it was lower than July's trade surplus of NOK 13.7 billion.

Exports grew 8.8 percent year-over-year in August, while imports showed no variations.

On a monthly basis, both exports and imports climbed by 7.8 percent and 12.9 percent, respectively in August.

At the same time, the mainland trade deficit narrowed to NOK 18.3 billion in August from NOK 19.6 billion in the same month of 2016.
