Turkey's consumer price inflation accelerated for the second straight month in September, figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute reported Tuesday.

The consumer price index climbed 11.20 percent year-over-year in September, faster than the 10.68 percent rise in August. That was almost in line with the 11.10 percent spike economists had forecast.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 12.50 percent annually in September and transport costs surged by 16.10 percent.

Month-on-month, consumer prices rose 0.65 percent from August, when it increased by 0.52 percent. The expected rate of rise was 0.63 percent.

Another report from the statistical office showed that producer price inflation eased slightly to 16.28 percent in September from 16.34 percent in the prior month. The inflation was expected to increase to 16.6 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices edged up 0.24 percent in September, slower than the expected increase of 1.0 percent.
