Taiwan's industrial production grew at a slower pace in August, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said Tuesday.

Industrial output gained 1.33 percent on year, following July's 4.69 percent increase. This was also weaker than the expected 1 percent.

Among sectors, manufacturing logged an annual growth of 1.85 percent, while mining and quarrying contracted 5.69 percent. Electricity and gas supply was down 4.06 percent.

On a monthly basis, industrial production climbed by seasonally adjusted 0.76 percent in August.

Elsewhere, the statistical office reported that the unemployment rate came in at 3.87 percent in August compared to 3.81 percent in July. The number of unemployed increased to 461,000 from 453,000 a month ago.
