2018.09.2706:06:00UTC+00Eurozone M3 Growth Eases; Private Sector Credit Rises

Eurozone money supply grew at a slower pace in August and private sector credit continued to expand, figures from the European Central Bank showed Thursday.

The broad monetary aggregate climbed 3.5 percent year-on-year in August, slower than the 4 percent increase seen in July. The growth averaged 4 percent in three months to August.

Data showed that annual growth in credit to the private sector remained unchanged at 3 percent in August. At the same time, adjusted loans to the private sector grew 3.4 percent versus 3.3 percent in July.

Among the borrowing sectors, the annual growth rate of adjusted loans to households came in at 3.1 percent compared with 3 percent in July. Similarly, the annual growth rate of adjusted loans to non-financial corporations improved to 4.2 percent from 4 percent a month ago.
