European shares increased to day, a first in six days, with investors anticipating the results of the US consumer confidence to assess the overall condition of the largest economy in the world. Asian shares are down while the US futures are steady.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index had a 0.2% gain to 342.49, 8:59 am, London time. The index already has a total 1.6% decline for this week as the market tried to curb the geopolitical situations in Iraq and Ukraine and worse-than-expected US economic data. Volumes shares exchanged in the gauge was2 28% lower than the average for 30 days.

The pan-FTSEurofirst 300 is currently up 0.26% or 17.43 pips to 6752.55. Germany’s DAX and France’s CAC 40 are both up with 0.30% or 19.54 and 0.45% or 20.14 to 9,834.75 and 4495.77 respectively.

Mediaset SpA is at the forefront of the rallying shares with a 5% boost following a positive opinion from Exane BNP Paribas of the stock.

Friday will be an essential day for the European Union with the anticipated conference that will appoint Luxembourg’s Jean-Claude Juncker for the European Commission President.
